Grand Teton National Park, WY

Thanks to @campendium, we knew just where to go for this incredible view of the Grand Tetons. Well, actually, my upcoming review will include a note about the spot marked by the GPS coords being a serious "step basher." Try as I might, I couldn't find the angle to get in there, though I could have sworn I'd seen glorious pics of Airstreams in that spot. I even tried to go up the hill past the entrance and slip and slide as the trailer dragged me back towards the steep transition, but no matter what, my trusty spotter @advodna_ann, waved me off. Five minutes farther up the road, we found another large site where the back in technique would work. A jackknife move to frame the mountains just as the light faded, 6 blocks on the downhill side and we couldn't be much happier to be here! #airstream #liveriveted #myrivetedlife #grandtetons #boondocking

Took a short walk to scout the other sites farther up the road. While we only got far enough on the walk for a family pic in front of the epic Tetons, in the afternoon, Wynne and I drove the entire length of Shadow Mountain Road all the way north to the "fabled" Upper Teton View sites. The verdict? I actually prefer being up a little higher at Shadow Mountain and the sites are much more private here. Inside info from @malimish_airstream is that Shadow Mountain site I couldn't get into last night can be accessed coming back down the hill (but it's still a step basher) and after seeing both today, I give "THE" spot at Shadow the edge over "THE" spot at Upper Teton (sorry @sethkhughes and @findingmarshall). It's never easy to leave a great site, but this one required a little thought. Nowhere obvious to turn around up the hill and too tight to make the turn to go down. Short hike up to Taggart Lake for a great view of the mountains and a chance to cool off. It's been hot tho the forecast calls for snow at just a little higher elevation than Jackson over the weekend. Maybe not that impressive after our last "view site" on the mountain but the Gros Ventre Campground in Grand Teton National Park is a pretty spot in Fall, even more so with several Airstreams scattered about.
