You know the baby's nap is important when you decide not to stop on the way out of town with only half a tank and no real idea of the next gas. By the time we checked, we had 67 miles to go and a range of 40 on the trip computer. Even my best attempts at "hyper-miling" only yielded 12 mpg on the curvy, hilly road. 50 miles later, the baby was still sleeping, but we managed to stop long enough to dump the extra 2 gallons we carry for the generator in the tank and make it to the station just as she woke up. #roadraised [This paragraph break is specifically for @wandrly]

After today's drive down the Klondike "Highway," I'm starting to think that last trailer wash was a little premature. A little improvised fishing (only poetic license required) along the banks of the Yukon just down the path from our spot at the funky Robert Service Campground. The place looks a bit like a government CG but has colorful hand painted signs, a cool little cafe and ice cream shop, an outdoor "living room" with couches and books and a great little playground with tons of bikes and a playhouse. #Whitehorse #yukon #airstreamtoalaska #childhoodunplugged #fishinforahhhs

Found our next expedition vehicle at the Yukon Transportation Museum this afternoon. Combined admission with the Beringia Interpretive Center across the parking lot was only $12 for adults (kids free). While water being trapped in ice floes and glacial lakes causing decreasing sea levels which exposed a continent shelf that enabled the migration of animals (and those that hunted them) from Asia to North America is cool and all, check out this old bus! #vintagebus

At the lunch stop this afternoon, I decided to swing out the solar rock guards (aka: "Airstream sunglasses") to clean off the mud behind them that we were still looking through despite yet another carwash on the way out of Whitehorse. Wynne decided to "help" which meant filling an Alaskan Brewing Company silicone pint glass up with water and throwing it at the car. As long as all I had to do was walk to the river to refill her supply bowl every 10 minutes, I considered it a parenting win. Another fun moment was pulling out into traffic from a parking lot in Whitehorse and realizing (with the help of several honking Canadians) that our side door to the trailer was open! Whether it hadn't be fully latched or there was a brain fart we can't (or won't) entirely say, but we only had to retrieve one tiny pink and white striped sweatshirt from the median! #airstream #tinymouseswashingwheeledhouses #airstreamwithkids #airstreamtoalaska #liveriveted #myrivetedlife
