The wreck of the Peter Iredale, a 285ft ship that ran aground on the Clatsop Spit in 1906 while attempting to enter the mouth of the Columbia River, is less than a mile from the Ft. Stevens State Park campground. While the ship was not badly damaged, it became embedded in the sand and was later sold for scrap, the steel panels removed to leave only the ribs to rust away in the surf. #ftstevens #traveloregon #peteriredale #shipwreck

All year round, you can drive on the stretch of beach 10 miles south of the Peter Iredale wreck, and in the off season, you can drive north of it up to the jetty. We couldn't resist putting the Sequoia in 4WD for just a little fun on the sand.

Sometimes you gotta just ignore the "No RV's beyond this point" signs and park in the completely empty lot with tons of room to turn around at the end of the North Jetty Road with a great view of the lighthouse while the baby gets her morning nap. #airstream #liveriveted #airstreamwithkids #easiertoaskforgivenessthanpermission
